Check out the winners of Magical Joey's Anthology Contest!

1st Place Winner:

Macabre Anthology (Anthology Contest Entry)Necromancer
Kept a corpse around your heart,
Your soul already gone.
The best of you did long depart,
Upon one sickly dawn.
Power corrupted every inch,
Except the beating pulse.
Greed for magic didn't flinch,
Nectar temptation's dulce.
Master and ruler of forsaken,
Lineage of blood and bone.
Skeletons in graves are shaken,
Necromancer will atone.
----------------------------------
Grave
Weathered stone stands alone,
At crossroads in the moor.
Occupant unmarked, unknown.
Soul unfortunate and poor.
Never step behind the slab,
Showing the dead respect is best.
Else your heart itself will stab,
Straight out your ribs and chest.
The sorry spirit guards the grave,
And it won't pardon friends.
If travelers in this life misbehave
They'll meet untimely ends.
"A curse on any else who die
Upon the crossroad's dust.
May their bodies never lie
And their fates be unjust."

3rd Place Winner:

Travel: An AnthologyWalla Walla, WA
The first step, a new horizon
Will not unmeet my shy eye.
It stalks me but will not blink back.
The river running underneath
Downtown,
And trinket shops
Succumbing to sunset hues.
It's like arriving on a friend's doorstep,
And taking the guest room;
Drinking wine,
And letting the simple
Things
Make a simpler man out of you.
Atlanta, GA
Sometimes in the absence of sleep,
The colors of love look different;
And in trying to define them,
Comes the madness.
Sometimes in the absence of love,
The feelings of pleasure feel hollow;
And in trying to refine them,
Sows the sadness.
Sometimes in a solitary place
You can see the pulsing
Of past promises, making
Honest indentations
In the sheets.
And sometimes in hotel lights
It's like you can see
Yourself
Inch closer to a dream,
But it's harder, still, to sleep.
Charleston, SC
No home-grown souls, and mud-thick air
Welcomes the travelling bones.
You come once, and see hope,
Come again and wish you weren't there.

Moonshadow Dream
His pale, white light
Falls down on me and on Earth
Like a gentle, warm rain.
His deep, regular breath
Influences the glassy souls,
Makes the oceans dance.
His sad beautiful melody
Penetrates our cold hearts
And donates us borrowed oblivion.
His silent, urgent call
Conceals the sorrow of dying suns,
Grants me my last dream.
